Warner Bros have dropped a trailer for the DC movie Blue Beetle from filmmaker Angel Manuel Soto originally conceived for HBO Max. The first Latin DC superhero feature was developed under the leadership of Walter Hamada for the studio. Word on the street is that the character will be incorporated in the universe being developed by new DC bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn. In DC canon, Blue Beetle is amigos with Booster Gold, another DC character who Gunn/Safran are developing a TV series around.

The movie hits theaters on August 18th and will be available to be seen in Imax.

This has got to be the first time for a few years where a trailer for an upcoming DC film actually looks like Warner Bros. Discovery has released a trailer for a movie that has finished looking CGI.

Blue Beetle has never been a DC Superhero that I've been interested in. He's always come across as a 'C' List character or a 'filler' but that's what James Gunn is pretty much known for... taking 'C' List characters and bringing them to the forefront which he's obviously done with 'The Guardians of the Galaxy'! Although Blue Beetle was green lighted by the previous Execs and not James Gunn, this looks like it has the hand prints of Gunn all over this movie, but it wouldn't surprise me if Gunn had been working on many things way before it was announced he was taking over as the Co head of DC Studios.

I have to say, I do think this film looks pretty interesting! I really like the family vibe... kind of reminds me of Marvel's Ms Marvel series on Disney+ which I really enjoyed.

Love the 'nod' to Blue Beetle's original costume, although I can't say the same for the Batman comment!

Even though these last few films from DC... Black Adam, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman bear no relevance to what James Gunn has instal for the future of DC, I wouldn't be surprised if this character will carry over as he looks just like the kind of character James Gunn would include, I'll still go and check this out at the Cinema as I really like what I see.
