"Nazis? I hate Nazis!"

What now seems to be a yearly event for the Superheroes of the CW TV network or as most people refer to as the ‘Arrowverse', kicks of this year on Monday November 27th at 8pm with Supergirl and then continues the same evening at 9pm with The Arrow. The next two episodes follow the night after on November 28th at 8pm with the The Flash and concludes at 9pm in Legends of Tomorrow.  Personally I can’t stand the term ‘Arrowverse' because to me, if it was actually an ‘Arrowverse', referring to The Arrow TV Series, then these characters would be constantly popping up ‘every now and then’ in The Arrow… but let’s face it, they’re not!

Yes I know, the Flash had his first appearance in the Arrow, but … so what!  I think The Flash can stand perfectly well on his ‘own two feet’ and to be honest, on his ‘own two feet’ and ‘head and shoulders’ above the Arrow now and for ever more!

Let’s just hope we are going to see a bit more effort this time form the Supergirl writers as last years ‘INVASION’ crossover was hardly the advertised four series crossover event it was made out to be… it was more like a three and a bit!  The ‘bit’ being the Supergirl episode which consisted of two characters from The Flash hopping into the final 3 minutes of the show through a portal and saying Hi!

It’s kind of a shame that the CW has decided to squeeze everything into two nights rather than the four nights they did last year, it kind’a says “Do we really have to do this!”, “Yeh..OK we do, so let’s get it over and done with as quick as possible!” and if this is true, I just hope the writers haven’t just quickly thrown something together, just to get it over and done with!

I don’t understand how these companies think and operate… you would think from a money making perspective that as the ‘Superhero’ genre is really big at the moment and that the CW has one of the big names, no strike that, two of the big names in their roster, the two being The Flash and Supergirl, that they would go all out and make these crossovers something to be memorable!

The ratings from last years crossover sure prove a success! Not to mention that they even have a TV version of Superman that they could probably include this time… has anyone thought about that one?  Unless Superman is now off limits due to Justice League about to drop, in fact when these episodes are screened Justice League will just be out in the Movie Theatres so maybe Yeh, he’ll definitely be ‘Off Limits’ to use …. Another ridiculous and stupid thing that the Movie and TV companies have to deal with!

Do these companies, whether it be TV or Film, really think that the general public can’t handle the fact that we can see a character on the small screen at the same time as on the big screen and that we can’t actually work out for ourselves that they may not actually be in the same story line… idiots! Mind you I’m sure it’s Warner Brothers that dictate who they can and can’t use at any one time and look how they mess ‘everything’ up when it comes to Superheros on screen, well, except for Wonder Woman!

I really enjoyed last years crossover, although I think Supergirl stole the whole show with her sheer joyful outlook of being included and meeting everyone for the first time… Melissa Benoist really excels in the role of Supergirl, she’s just a joy to watch on screen and I love her interaction with all the other heroes, especially in the training scene.  The series Supergirl can sometimes come across as being very cheesy especially in the fight scenes and I really think Melissa could do with a bit more ‘Fight’ training, especially as Supergirl is actually supposed to be a lot more powerful than even Superman… so let’s see Supergirl ‘punch’ with convition!

For me the standout character in this years crossover event is the Ray, real name Raymond C. "Ray" Terrill played by Russell Tovey. I've always liked the character from reading the 'Freedom Fighters' comics in the 70's. I happen to own the whole series! Russell seemed to take to the character like a 'duck to water' and handled the modern gay story line wonderfully. Not to mention the addition of Citizen Cold... absolutely superb.... I really, REALLY hope we get to see more of him in the future.
