So, a rumour surfaced by Deadline Hollywood 20/07/22 that Mr Cavill, Superman himself would put in a surprise appearance at SDCC to talk up more Superman.

The twitter-verse and internet literally exploded with one little rumour and many, many people especially fans of the hero and DC fans started to at last have some faith in the new custodians of the DC character, Warner Bros Discovery. For the next few days everyone was at last talking about Superman, the number one and de facto superhero, literally where the genre of superhero's began back in 1938.

With one little rumour from what most people thought was a legitimate source, DC had at last gained all the media coverage they have been looking for. DC was on top and had almost at last got one over on the MARVEL juggernaut.

Everyone was on 'tender hooks' for DC's time in Hall H to actually see if Henry Cavill would actually be there.

Personally I was excited but kept thinking to my self, really, can this actually happen... and guess what... as we all know now... it didn't!

Whether you are a fan of Mr Cavill's version of Superman or NOT... for that week, DC was in everyones mind... DC had got the momentum that they had been crying out for... and in one foul swoop... it was all over. Why oh WHY didn't Warner Bros. Discovery capitalise on the momentum.

David Zaslav the new president of Warner Bros Discovery is supposed to be this amazing CEO that took the Discovery Channel to all new heights and literally created something out of nothing.... well if you ask me he's completely failed in one of his first tasks of steering Warner Bros in to a new era. He had the chance to take advantage of a GOLD MINE of a situation and exploit all this free marketing and press time and show that the new Warner Bros. Discovery was going to SHINE.

What was the tag line that was used at the original merger... Warner Bros. Discovery 'The stuff that dreams are made of'.

I would have thought that most CEO's of huge corporations like Warner Bros. Discovery would have being watching all the buzz that had been generated by that one little rumour and immediately spoken to their Marketing Department and said... are you seeing this! "I don't care how we do it, but we need to make the most of all this 'chatter' and exploit as much of this as we can and benefit from it". Instead all Warner Bros. Discovery have done is kept quiet and spoken about the two movies they have coming out in the near future.

Two movies a hasten to add that are nothing new and that we already know about.

As with the old Warner Bros. are they really that stupid. I don't care whether Warner Bros. Discovery have anything else up their sleeve or something planned in the future of which they don't want us the general public or indeed the major fan base to know about... they had a HUGE chance to keep the juggernaught that had started, rolling.

I'll say again... any CEO 'worth their weight in gold' or company that knows what they are doing would have turned that rumour to their advantage, as these kind of opportunities do not present themselves very often.

I'm now 100% convinced that Warner Bros. Discovery and David Zaslav have literally no idea or real laid out plans for what they are going to do with the number one superhero, Superman... can you imagine what MARVEL would have done if they owned the rights to the most important Superhero of all time. Mind you, saying that, look how long it's taking for them to give us the X-men oh, sorry... The Mutants!

If Warner Bros. Discovery really have legitimate plans for the direction Superman will be taking in the future, whether it be with Henry Cavill or NOT, all they needed to have done was put up a Superman logo at the end of the presentation.

It could have been the Superman shield from the comics, not a Henry Cavill Superman shield, a generic shield and said something to the effect of... watch this space or even "on my world it means Hope".

Nothing else, no more details, no hints. That's all it would have taken to keep people talking in a positive tone regarding the world of DC. Instead... NOTHING!

The Superman shield in full view of everyone would and I can't believe I'm saying this... it would have given the DC community, HOPE!

From here on faith would have been returned to the custodians of the character and all anyone would be talking about was at last, Warner Bros. Discovery have something planned for the future regarding Superman.

Communities would have then started to discuss, what's it going to be about and most importantly, who'll be playing the character. Would it be Henry coming back or would it be a new actor... everyone could be talking in positive terms... but alas NO!

All I have heard since that day is once again negativity towards DC and to be honest I really don't blame anyone for saying anything bad against Warner Bros. Discovery because at the very least yet again the directors of Warner Bros. Discovery have shown that they know nothing about how to run a company let alone a huge organisation like Warner Bros. Discovery and it's shown to me that if this is how Warner Bros. Discovery miss huge opportunities like this, to capitalise on momentums that could ease all their past problems then there is probably no hope for the future.

But, hey… it’s only my own personal opinion!
