The saviour of the DC Universe James Gunn has finally decided to share with everyone the true official logo for the new Man of Steel.... ooops probably best we don't use that expression, as 'Man of Steel' will always be linked to Henry's iteration of Superman... even though it was used way, way.... WAY before Henry Cavil's time!

 

Anyways, the Kingdom Come Superman shield had already supposidly been leaked a week or so before through pics of nameplates from the cast members during their table read so it was nothing unexpected.... just... in colour this time around and supposidly taken as a close up from the costume David Corenswet will be wearing!

 

Personally I think people are getting way to carried away with what they are looking at as I'm positive we are looking at a computer generated visual rather than the actual costume, just like the orchestrated 'table read' image.

 

As every major Superman fan knows, this particular version of the House of El symbol is from the awesome 'Kingdom Come' story by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. The only major difference is that the black in the shield has been replaced by the yellow of Superman's classic colors.

 

I'm guessing, just to be 'Edgy' and 'Down with the kids', Mr Gun has had the unbelevable and original idea to set his film apart from every other Superman iteration on film by changing an 80 year history of the most famous Superhero and give him the logo on his chest, NOT the icon or logo he started off with all those years ago, but to change it to the one he was given in a story about how he was more or less nearing the end of his heroing career and how he makes a return to teach all the heros of the time "what it actually means to be a hero" and "how it should be done!".

 

ASTOUNDING!

 

Personally speaking... I've always loved this iteration of the Superman shield... it's sleek and minamilaistic and I think it defines a perfect progression in time. So why the HELL are we starting with it!

 

Not only do we now have the confirmation of which sheild icon the new Superman will be wearing but it also seems that the 2025 film will now be know as just plain old 'SUPERMAN' rather than 'Superman: Legacy'... Hmmmmm, does this make a difference, don't think so but I personnally think I would have prefered a bi line!

 

We also get yet another cringe line about how the principal photography for the film has started today, February 29, the day that just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday! Really... Seriously... "Coincidentally and unplanned". Do you think that was added as a JOKE, or do you think Mr Gunn actually thinks we believe this... I hope it's the former!

 

I'm sorry guys, I know I sound like a 'Man Baby' but this bloke really makes my skin crawl and I know it's all part and parcel of the Movie Hype that has to be generated to garna interest etc, but please... can he not do this kind of thing in a more dignafied and less cringe way.

 

I suppose only time will tell what the full-body suit will look like, including the cape and boots and personally, I know I'm in the minority but I'm also hoping for the trunks on the outside.
